An acrylic gouache (pronounced "gwosh") is a French term for opaque watercolors. Acrylics dry to the touch in 5 minutes, are cured 80% withing 24 hours and are completely cured in two weeks. Unlike a "traditional" gouache, Jo Sonja's acrylic gouache is water resistant and will not chip or crack when cured. Acrylics paints and mediums have the added benefit of drying through each other. There is not need for initial layers to cure completely before additional painting commences, such as when using oil paints.
Jo Sonja's Artists' Colours are formula acrylics offering the opacityof colour and the beautiful, velvet matte finish associated with traditional gouache plus superb handling and brushing characteristics. Unlike gouache, they are water-resistant and will not chip or crack when cured.
